Longford Primary Academy, Gloucestershire

The new 1 form entry primary academy school is funded and built by Robert Hitchins Limited.

The school is being delivered as part of the planning obligations linked to the development which, when completed, will comprise circa 570 new homes, a local centre and public open spaces. In addition, nursery facilities are being provided in conjunction with Gloucestershire County Council.

NDC had a watching brief over the mechanical and electrical contractors, EG Carter being the main contractor.

The new school, providing a modern, functional learning environment for the Longford community, will open in September 2017 in a phased manner allowing the school to grow gradually to accommodate up to 210 pupils. It will also include early years/nursery provision.

The school, designed by Quattro Design, will provide a modern, functional learning environment for the children of Longford and beyond. Its phased opening starts in September 2017. It is expected to grow to a 1 form entry, eventually accommodating up to 210 children from Reception to Year 6. In order to free up wall space in the classrooms wall fan convectors were located at high level. The remainder of the areas were provided with underfloor heating.
