The project was procured on a design and build contract and NDC carried out extensive due diligence and design works to RIBA Stage D before producing Employers Requirements documents for competitive tender.
The building contains 44 large loading docks and provides 6580 sq. metres of space to accommodate state of the art parcel handling machinery capable of processing 12,000 parcels per hour. In addition to the processing area, the building contains a two-storey office block containing administration offices, meeting rooms, welfare facilities, staff toilet, etc.
The building incorporates a solar wall to utilise passive heating techniques in winter and this has helped it to attain BREEAM Very Good status. The project was awarded RICS North West Project of the Year in 2014.
